Council for Ayurveda Credentialing (CAC)
Our Position

Our Vision

The Council for Ayurveda Credentialing’s (CAC) Vision is to be the premier/leading accrediting organization advancing excellence and quality in Ayurveda Medical Education programs in the United States, Canada & Europe (as a basis for its acceptance as a licensed profession).

Our Mission

The Council for Ayurveda Credentialing’s (CAC) Mission is to create unifying educational standards, scopes of practice, and related lesson plans necessary for accrediting and legitimizing the study and practice of Ayurveda in the United States, Canada & Europe.

Over the past 10 years, the growing demand for Ayurveda education in the United States, Canada & Europe has resulted in the establishment of over 50 Ayurveda Training programs created mostly by yoga practitioners and Ayurveda program graduates.

Presently, there are no unifying educational standards for content or scope of practice.  Graduates of Ayurveda programs have no common understanding of what fellow practitioners can and cannot do.  Furthermore, clients seeking an Ayurveda consultation are unsure about how to ascertain the credential and competence of the practitioner or the quality of their education.

A few groups in the Ayurveda community in the United States have attempted to address the need for standardization of Ayurveda education as a necessary step for credentialing, licensing and validating the practice of Ayurveda. However, until now, no group has collaboratively developed or disseminated standards, scopes of practice or educational content developed and approved by a diverse and inclusive community of educators and active practitioners.

The work of the Council for Ayurveda Credentialing has been guided by the Vision, Mission and Core Values.
